Undyed Fabric
This fabric is premium quality 100% cotton with a thread count of 78 x 78. Produced by P&B Textiles, this fabric has a light weight and soft hand, similar to many of the standard quilter's print fabrics you are used to, and can be used in the same project without concern. This soft, easy to work fabric is excellent for both machine and hand work, and is appropriate for piecing and appliqué.
We hand-dye this wonderful cotton fabric in small batches, one piece at a time. We start with Procion MX fiber reactive dyes, generally regarded as the best dye for natural fibers available today. This dye produces rich vibrant colors, and is colorfast against fading and bleeding. Using low-water immersion and direct application techniques, we obtain these stunning and unique visual textures. The fabric is then thoroughly rinsed and washed in Synthrapol, an industrial detergent which helps prevent the loose dye from redepositing on the fabric. We then press and fold the fabric for shipping.
We do not use fabric softeners, starch or sizing, nor do we use any products with perfumes. And, like all of our products, we produce and store this fabric in a smoke free environment.
Use and Care
This fabric is pre-shrunk, and thoroughly rinsed so the dye should not bleed. However we recommend that you pre-wash any fabric that will be used in a quilt or garment which may be washed in the future.
